The HWIC-4A/S, along with the other four high-speed WAN interface cards, provides highly flexible connections for Cisco 1800, 2800, and 3800 series integrated services routers. It allows customers to enable applications such as WAN aggregation, console server, legacy protocol transport, and dial access server. Users may mix and match the HWIC-4A/Swith other HWICs to tailor cost-effective solutions for common networking problems like external dial-modem access, remote network management, low-density WAN aggregation, high port density support, and legacy protocol transport. This interface card uses a Smart Serial connector.
