The ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) U WAN Interface Card - version 2, model number WIC-1B-U-V2, was released as a replacement for the WIC-1B-U card that Cisco stopped manufacturing in December 2002. The WIC inserts into a mixed-media network module or directly into the WIC slot on the Cisco 1700, 2600, 3600, 3700 chassis. The ability to add BRI connectivity via a WIC allows administrators to maximize valuable slot space while providing additional connectivity options, such as Ethernet, on the same module. The WIC-1B-U-V2 offers the following enhanced features: RJ-45 connector; Can go into slot W0 or W1 of the 1E2W, 2E2W, and 1E1R2W network modules; is supported in NM-1FE1R2W, NM-1FE2W, NM-2FE2W, and NM-2W as well as on 1700, 2600, 3600, 3700; has One ISDN BRI port (U interface, internal NT-1); and provides NT-1 status information on the IOS show controller command. Customers interested in this product should note that the WIC-1B-U-V2 does not support hot swap, however no hardware damage will occur if it is swapped while power is on; cannot be used with Cisco 1600 Series or the Cisco 1750; and cannot mix in same Network module with a WIC36-1B-U WIC. (A WIC36-1B-U can be used in a different Network Module in the same system).
