The Cisco WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 is Cisco System's forty-eight 10/100/1000Base-T LAN port switching module that extends the industry-leader's high standard of performance into the modular switched Ethernet segment. The Cisco Catalyst 4000/4500 Series 48-Port GE Module 10/100/1000BT line card boasts the highest density auto-negotiating G.E. from the multitude of intelligent services at the network edge to desktop computers. The WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 offers forty-eight total RJ-45 ports with ultra-fast auto-sensing technology, allowing all ports to be used at 10/100/1000Mbps.

The ports can successfully share 12 Gbps of capacity into the switching fabric, and any oversubscription may be controlled by changing the number of ports used at the higher 1000 Mbps. All ports are capable of utilizing Gigabit EtherChannel or IEEE 802.3ad for running high-speed interconnection applications. And all forty-eight ports employ the standard IEEE 802.1x flow control (a.k.a. PAUSE frame) mechanism to successfully control Gigabit Ethernet host traffic.
