The WS-SUP720-3BXL is the Catalyst 6500/Cisco 7600 Supervisor 720 Fabric MSFC3 PFC3BXL—one of Cisco's Supervisor Engines. Layer 2 and Layer 3 MPLS VPNs can be enabled with this product's hardware-based set of features. The WS-SUP720-3BXL integrates, within a single module, a forwarding engine and high performance 720 Gbps crossbar switch fabric. By enabling 4-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 48-port 10/100/1000 density line cards, the WS-SUP720-3BXL delivers an impressive 40 Gbps of switching capacity for each slot. Performance reaches 400 million packets per second of IPv4 when hardware-enabled forwarding for IPv4, IPv6, and MPLS is utilized.
