Able to be used in any slot in any Catalyst 6500 chassis except 6513, and slots 9 through 13 on 6513, the WS-X6816-GBIC supports multimodule channeling technology. Modules in this series provide even greater resiliency by creating channels across ports on separate modules in the same chassis resulting in maintained connectivity even if one module (and corresponding ports) fails.
