The Cisco PA-8T-X21 is the 8-Port synchronous serial, X.21 Port Adapter designed for the 7200 Series of Cisco routers. The PA-8T-X21 also supports the following platforms: Catalyst 5000 Series Switches with RSM/VIP2, Catalyst 6000 Family Switches with FlexWAN Module, Cisco 7000 Series, Cisco 7100 Series, Cisco 7200 Series, Cisco uBR7200 Series, Cisco 7301 Routers, Cisco 7304 PCI Port Adapter Carrier Card in the Cisco 7304 Router, Cisco 7401ASR Routers, and Cisco 7500 Series with VIP. The PA-8T-X21 synchronous serial port adapter reliably provides up to eight synchronous serial interfaces for the Cisco 7000 family routers and the Cisco uBR7200 series routers. PA-8T-X21 network interfaces provide a direct connection between the high-speed bus in the router and external networks. Each PA-8T-X21 interface provides full-duplex (FDX) operation at T1 (1.544 Mbps) and E1 (2.048 Mbps) speeds. The X.21 interface is commonly used in the United Kingdom to connect to public data networks.
