Created to be a compact, fixed-configuration platform, a new or used CSS11501 Content Services Switch delivers rich Layer 4-7 traffic management services for e-business applications. Ideal for load balancing small web server clusters, pre-owned or new surplus CSS11501 from Cisco 11501 is appropriate for supporting eight 10/100 Ethernet ports and one Gigabit Ethernet port though an optional small-form-factor, pluggable gigabit interface converter (SFP GBIC). A new or refurbished CSS11501 is not recommended for medium- and large- data centers that require greater performance, higher port densities, and modularity. In that case, Cisco suggests the Cisco CSS 11503, Cisco CSS 11506 and the Content Switching Module for the Cisco Catalyst 6500.
