As one of the Enhanced Chassis for the Catalyst 6500 Series and Sup Engine 720-3B, the WS-C6503-E requires a minimum software release of • Cisco IOS® Software Release 7.4.2 and later, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(13)E and later, and Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(14)SX and later to run. This 3-slot chassis offers enhancements to support the Cisco Catalyst 67xx series line cards and is backward-compatible with all existing software versions. The WS-C6503-E supports CEF720 line cards such as the WS-6704-10GE, WS-6724-SFP, and WS-6748-SFP.
